Cherry Cottage is a grade II listed pretty circa 16th Century chocolate box thatch cottage. We were commissioned to sympathetically implement a restoration design to stop the spread and potential collapse of the roof and plated walls. We removed ceilings , roof tank & associated pipe work. We introduced two new substantial timber purlins and cranked these off an existing hip plate and onto a specially engineered hanger fixed to the chimney breast. In addition we set new collar/ceiling rafters from these and connected them to the original pole rafters. A curved steel angle was introduced to the inside of the bowed roof plate (templated on site) and fixed. All ceilings and finishes were sympathetically re introduced with new roof tank and pipe work. Restoration of this 600 year old cottage is anticipated to last a few more lifetimes
